The Dalmore, a distinguished brand of Highland single malt Scotch whisky, boasts a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1839 by Alexander Matheson in Alness, Scotland, on the banks of the Cromarty Firth. A key part of the brand's identity is the 12-pointed Royal Stag emblem, a crest originally granted to the Mackenzie clan in 1263 after one of their chieftains saved King Alexander III from a charging stag; the Mackenzie family later acquired the distillery and incorporated this emblem onto every bottle. What truly sets The Dalmore apart is its renowned multi-cask maturation process, where many of its whiskies are initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before being finished in various types of sherry casks from the celebrated Spanish bodega, González Byass, and other casks like port pipes, contributing to the whisky's unique and complex character.
The Dalmore 12-Year-Old is a classic Highland single malt Scotch whisky celebrated for its complex and well-balanced flavor profile. It undergoes a distinctive aging process, spending an initial nine years in American white oak bourbon casks before being divided, with one half finished in rare and aged Oloroso sherry casks for its final three years. This unique maturation delivers a rich and inviting nose of citrus, chocolate, and spice, with a palate of Seville oranges, dried fruit, and vanilla, all culminating in a long finish of roasted coffee and dark chocolate.
