Glenmorangie Scotch Whisky Aged 24 Years Rare Cask - Cask #4 (750ml)
Cask No. 0004 was especially selected by Dr Bill Lumsden from the innermost
recesses of Warehouse 32. Powerful, spicy – yet distinctively Glenmorangie, this
single malt shows rare poise.
The spirit was distilled on Tuesday 6th May 1997, closely observed by Dr
Bill Lumsden, then Glenmorangie’s pioneering Distillery Manager. Over the next
ten years it would age patiently in American oak bourbon casks, gaining the
single malt’s smooth, fruity style. Then Dr Bill selected this whisky for an unusual
trial with French oak casks. Renowned for its intense, tannic character, this wood
is a rare companion for Glenmorangie’s soft spirit. And it would take all Dr Bill’s
skill to balance their contrasts as the whisky matured. He watched closely over 13
long years of finishing, as one cask unveiled an outstanding harmony of flavours.
Deep and oaky, but delicately fruity too. Cask No. 0004 is a testament Dr Bill’s
expertise.
Tasting Notes: Oaky dryness and notes of white pepper, fruit, and honeycomb.
Finally, berries, vanilla and Brazil nuts shine through with more oak.
Aromas: Fruity with mango, melon, and pineapple – and Glenmorangie’s hallmark
orange notes. Sandalwood and spicy clove oil follow on.
