Aviation Cocktail Kit

Hugo Ensslin's created the Aviation while head bartender at New York City's Hotel Wallick and included the recipe in his 1916 Recipe's for Mixed Drinks. Subsequent incarnations of the recipe left out the sometimes hard to find crème de violette, but we insist in including the ingredient that gives the drink its beautiful and unique color. Of the sour family, the Aviation is refreshing, savory and floral.
The Aviation
- 2 oz Fords London Dry Gin
- 1/2 oz Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
- 1/4 oz Rothman & Winter Crème de Violette
- 2 dashes Australian Orange Bitters
- 3/4 oz Fresh Lemon Juice **
Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into a coupe and garnish with a Hotel Starlino cherry on a bar pick.
