The 2019 Rosé is very dry (less than a gram of residual sugar) and coming in at 13.3% alcohol. Portal is become a consistently good producer of rosé, and this has been a consistent value. Portal has been up to the challenge. I'm never quite certain how well they will age, and this is not profound, to be sure, but that's hardly the point with pinks, right? Solid in the mid-palate, this has fine acidity, a fresh finish and good flavor, too, but always in a dry and controlled fashion. It's never sweet or jammy. It has the stuffing for food and the freshness to drink all by itself on a warm day. This seems like a fine example of this brand, particularly now, in its pristine youth. Wines like this have a ceiling, but at least now it is worth leaning up again."
