he 2017 Tenuta Frescobaldi Castiglioni is an all-Tuscan blend with fruit from Frescobaldi's clay soil on the Castiglioni estate in the Val di Pesa. The wine embraces its generous Toscanità, thanks to that warm-vintage succulence, richness and fruit-forward ripeness. You can't really make out any of the individual traits of the varieties used here, but that's hardly the point. You get good structure from the two Cabernets and lots of soft richness from the Merlot. The Sangiovese is a bit lost, but that grape weighs in with a touch of freshness. The wine is robust for sure, but there is no heavy jamminess in the fruit. This is a fun and informal Tuscan blend to drink in the near and medium term."
